This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Parshat Vayakhel, Parshat Shekalim, 5727 (1967). The Parshat Shekalim reading from a second Torah scroll is about counting the Jewish people through the half-shekel donation. The discourse explores the apparent contradiction between 'counting', which defines and limits, and 'elevation' which transforms, resolving it through the idea that a blessing is found only in things that are hidden and not directly counted.
