Escaping The Flood

Noach | Genesis | 5725

This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Parshat Noach, 5725 (1965). The verse from Song of Songs 'Many waters cannot quench love' is applied by Rabbi Shneur Zalman to the struggle of sincere prayer against the distractions of daily life. Just as Noah was saved from the Flood by entering the Ark, the individual is saved from the flood of worldly concerns by entering the words of Torah and prayer.
