Giving One's Best

Ki Tisa | Exodus, Shemos | 5717

This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Sedra Ki Tisa, 5717 (1957). The verse 'when you count the heads of the Children of Israel... they should give a half-Shekel' is explored through a 1919 discourse of the Rashab about Moses as the faithful shepherd. The discourse reveals that Moses's role was to strengthen the Jewish people's faith not only in the immanent and transcendent Divine radiance but in the very Essence of the Infinite, helping each Jew give their absolute best to G-d.
