Shining Of The Essence

This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on the second night of Succot, 5734 (1973). The Torah states 'You should dwell in Succot for seven days' and then 'every citizen in Israel will dwell in Succot'. The Baal Shem Tov explains the word 'citizen' (ezrach) as a promise: 'I will cause to shine', meaning that dwelling in the Succah causes the deepest level of the soul, the Yechidah, to radiate within the person, revealing a spark of the Creator within every Jew.
