This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Parshat Shemot, 5748 (1988). In the Haftorah for Shemot, Isaiah declares that 'those who come will be rooted by Jacob', and the Tzemach Tzedek discusses two interpretations: the first as referring to the Redemption and the revelation of the soul's root, and the second as referring to the practical observance of Mitzvot. The discourse links both explanations to show that the revelation of Moshiach comes through practical action in this world.
