This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Sedra Chayei Sara, 5725 (1965). The verse 'and the life of Sarah was a hundred years, and twenty years, and seven years' is interpreted by the Zohar as 'a life above'. Two discourses of the Rashab from 1914 and 1918 seem contradictory in their explanations, but the Rebbe shows they describe complementary movements: reaching upward toward the Divine and then descending to transform the world below.
