This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Chanukah, Parshat Miketz, 5727 (1966). The Haftorah for Shabbat Chanukah opens 'Rejoice, Daughter of Zion', and the discourse asks why the Jewish people are called 'daughter' rather than the seemingly higher terms of sister or mother. The answer reveals that 'daughter' represents the Sefirah of Malchut, and the future redemption will elevate this lowest level to its ultimate grandeur through the revelation of Divine light.
