The Fire On The Inner Altar

Tetzaveh | Exodus | 5727

This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Parshat Tetzaveh, 5727 (1967). Inside the Sanctuary there was an Inner Altar for incense, and a Divine fire settled on it so the incense burned on its own. The Rebbe asks about the significance of this Heavenly fire: if Chabad emphasises personal spiritual effort, why should the fire come from above? The discourse resolves this through the teaching that making the Sanctuary requires human effort, but G-d then sends an additional divine fire as a gift.
