The Great Shofar

5728

This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Rosh Hashanah, 5728 (1967). The Rosh Hashanah liturgy includes the verse 'On that day the Great Shofar will be sounded' and the discourse asks why this Shofar is specifically called 'great'. Chassidic teachings distinguish between multiple levels of Shofar, explaining that the Great Shofar of the Redemption reaches an even higher level of divine delight than the Shofar sounded in the Temple or on Shabbat.
