Towards Heaven Or Earth

This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Parshat Mishpatim, 5727 (1967). Based on a discourse by the Maharash beginning with the verse 'If you lend money to My people', the discourse examines the direction of one's spiritual effort: toward heaven or toward earth. It concludes, citing the Zohar and the Bati leGani discourse, that the goal is to draw down the Divine into this physical world, creating the inner Sanctuary within each person.
