You Fought Their Battle -Edited

This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Parshat Miketz, 5728 (1967), during Chanukah. The Ve-al Hanisim prayer states that G-d 'fought their battle', and the Rebbe explains this not merely as divine assistance but as G-d fighting the battle the Jewish people should themselves be fighting: the purification of the world from evil. The discourse distinguishes between merely avoiding evil and actively loathing and combating it.
